Proper Care for Your Ceramics: A Guide to Preserving Your Handcrafted Treasures

Bringing a handcrafted ceramic piece into your home is like adopting a new member of the family—it deserves a little care and attention to thrive. Our pieces are made to be enjoyed for a lifetime, and with just a few simple tips, you can ensure they remain as beautiful as the day you first held them.
Washing: We highly recommend hand-washing all our products with warm water and a mild, non-abrasive soap. A soft sponge or cloth is all you need. While some of our pieces may be dishwasher-safe, hand-washing is the gentlest method and helps protect the unique glazes and finishes from the harsh detergents and high temperatures of a machine cycle.
Temperature Changes: Ceramics, especially those that are handmade, can be sensitive to sudden and extreme temperature changes. Avoid placing a very hot mug directly onto a cold surface, or pouring a cold beverage into a heated bowl. This can cause thermal shock, which may lead to cracks or fractures over time. Allow your ceramic to gradually adjust to new temperatures.
Handling and Storage: When storing your ceramic items, it’s best to stack them carefully with a soft cloth or paper towel in between to prevent chips and scratches. Be mindful when placing them on hard surfaces, and always handle them with care, especially the rims and handles, which can be more delicate.
By following these simple guidelines, you are ensuring that your Nuna Ceramics piece will not only serve its purpose but will also continue to be a source of beauty and joy in your home for years and generations to come.
